"These women have taught their children not to hate or revenge against a people, who surely deserve all this and much more," he has said this morning the president of the Association of Victims of Terrorism, Juan Antonio García Casquero during Opening of the First Conference on Terrorism UCAM 2009 under the slogan `The woman, hidden victim of terrorism 'will be held on 18 and 19 May at the Temple of Los Jeronimos.
The ceremony has among others the presence of Secretary General of the Presidential and Public Administration CARM, José Gabriel Ruiz, the Deputy Mayor for Social Welfare Policy and Equality of the Municipality of Murcia, María del Carmen Pelegrin and Head of the Domestic Violence Unit of the Regional Government Office, Francisca Munuera.
AVT president, Juan Antonio García Casquero, encouraged the audience to listen to each of the testimonies.
"Surely you will learn something that will never find in books.
The daily life of a victim of terrorism, "he said.
Casquero Garcia described the women victims of terrorism as "the forgotten victims who have suffered in silence", thanked the UCAM recognition to these people who "deserve it."
Then, Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, highlighted the historical role of women as a fundamental pillar of the family.
"A paper does not work and that only now beginning to be recognized by society."
The head of the Gender Violence Unit of the Government Commission Francisca Munuera, claimed the invaluable role of women as a generator of wealth, while the Secretary General of the Presidential and Public Administration of Murcia, José Gabriel Ruiz, described as "the mainstay of the family."
Ruiz argued that society does not forget the victims.
During the afternoon there was a round table by the vice president of the Foundation for Victims of Terrorism, and mother of Irene Villa, María Jesús González, Fernando Mugica lawyer's widow, Mapi de las Heras, Councilwoman Azkoitia, Pilar Elías and victim of GRAPO, Maria de los Angeles López.
María Jesús González stressed the importance of moral support and affection of society in the recovery process of victims of terrorism.
"The love of Spain saved us, both my daughter and me.
It is very important that young people empathize with the victims of terrorism, "he said.
For its part, Mapi de las Heras, warmly thanked the opportunity to recount their experience to young people provided by the UCAM through this conference and stressed that universities are schools for life but especially vehicles of transmission of human values.
"I'm in this battle for my children, my grandchildren and all children.
Because nobody should have to suffer a tragedy like mine. "
The president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, said flatly that "from the UCAM we oppose any form of attack on life."
