The University of Murcia today introduced the book "Contemporary Ecuador," which, coordinated by Professor of this educational institution Angel Montes del Castillo, analyzes the political, economic, social and cultural development of the Andean country.
The work, in the words of its coordinator, seeks to fill the information gap that exists in the Murcia region of Ecuador, but also accommodate a speech on cooperation in Latin America to the detriment of the dominant European and reflect on the integration of immigrants.
Throughout the book, published by the Publications Service of the University of Murcia, Ecuadorian authors, which include former ministers of this country, addressing issues like the economic situation, national identity, the political system or the role of social movements.
The book also examines contentious issues in Ecuador today, such as the Armed Forces, issues of borders, the Church, migration and the new Constitution.
The presentation ceremony was held at the Convalescence was attended by the director of the Office for Development Cooperation of the Autonomous Region, María Dolores Alarcon, the University offered their assistance in this matter, and the Consul General of Ecuador in Murcia Patricio Garcés.
Garcés thanked the University of Murcia its contribution to the integration and transfer Ecuadorian group that makes its facilities when an electoral process in the South American country.
The rector, José Antonio Cobacho, who chaired the event, highlighted the suitability of a book about the current relations between Ecuador and Spain, "given that the Andean country is already part of the Spanish reality."
The publication of this book is one of the activities under the Project "Ecuador in Murcia, which aims to develop the lecture series and film, exhibitions and music concerts.
With the publication of this work, the collection of publisher Agora University, EDITUM, coordinated by Professor José Antonio Gómez, reached ten volumes.
Agora Collection is dedicated to research and studies on various aspects of social life.
