Conflicts between the pace of new information technologies and communications and the protection of personal data constitutes the central theme of the conference held at the Auditorium and Congress Center and coordinated by the professor at the University of Murcia Julián Valero.
The meeting was particularly concerned with the achievement of effective legal rules against attacks which may affect the citizens of their privacy.
Valero has said that "the protection of personal data is now faced with a challenge of great significance in the information society and communications, primarily following the widespread use of Internet."
For this professor, "the provision of personal information online, especially by public authorities and social networks, is a hitherto unknown phenomenon, so it is essential to reconfigure the relationship with other rights and fundamental freedoms, as freedom of expression. "
The Workshops were attended also by the intervention of the director of the Spanish Agency for Data Protection, Artemi Rallo.
