"Citizens have a responsibility to reach out and adapt to DTT, said today the Minister of Economy and Finance of the Region of Murcia, Inmaculada García Martínez, at the opening of the V International Forum of Digital Terrestrial Television UCAM, which held at the Temple of Los Jeronimos 11 and 12 May.
The activity, part of the SICARM 2009, includes several lectures and roundtables, recognized by national and international experts on DTT, as the director of the HD Forum Italia, Sebastiano Trigila.
The symposium will address among other issues of interest include research initiatives, the transition to the new television format, the technological challenges of digital television or HD.
The session began with a lecture by the Director General of Telecommunications of the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Society (SETSI), Bernardo Lorenzo, entitled "Digital Terrestrial Television in Spain."
Lorenzo said on Spain's role as a pioneer nation in the development and implementation of DTT.
The head of the SETSI said "firm commitment of our country for the digital switchover, will properly position our industry and export technology and know-how to other countries."
Then, the director of Technological Innovation of RTVE, Pere Vila, and vice president of HD Forum Italia, Sebastiano Trigila, respectively made presentations on the draft Spanish Radio and Television in High Definition and the Book of HD on DTT.
The evening hosted two round tables, devoted to the analysis of 'technological challenges of the TDT', a 'Research DTT' by the Technology Manager of Telefonica Audiovisual Services, Juan Mancebo, and the Vice President of the Spanish Association of Television Interactive (AEDETI).
Mancebo said that "it would be a pity that the DTT became a simple technological change."
For his part, Deputy AEDETI, Tomás Cid, dismounted the myths related to interactive television and denied his alleged failure.
"The Interactive Television is in its infancy," he said.
Then teachers from different universities presented their research on DTT.
The rector of the UCAM, Josefina García Lozano, welcomed the celebration of this landmark symposium, after the analogue switch and said "this forum will serve to initiate a debate on the issue of digital television that will benefit the practice of teaching , research and knowledge transfer to society. "
