The PSOE commitment to building an archaeological theme park instead of parking in San Esteban (03/04/2009)

Note from PSOE:

Socialist Councilman José Manuel Abellán ensures that the basis of reports issued by the Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, the remains found in the basement of this area are more than enough to transform San Esteban in a large archeological park open

Over the years we have been destroying Murcia much of our archaeological and architectural past, but now is the time-PSOE mayor defends José Manuel Abellán-to retrieve a piece of our heritage.

In this sense, the Socialists are committed to building an archaeological theme park instead of parking in San Esteban, especially considering the reports issued by the Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage attesting that, it seems, there remains sufficient in the basement of this area as to transform San Esteban in a large open air archaeological park.

According Abellán, "there's still time to save this space for the future and progress of Murcia because, undoubtedly, there are other sites for parking, but what is certain is that no other spaces to build an archaeological theme park. "

Can you imagine that in Cartagena had destroyed the Roman theater to build a parking lot, asks the Socialist councilor, who maintains that "Murcia would be more competitive and attractive from the standpoint of culture and tourism, if you build a theme park heart rather than a car. "

The city "continues Abellán-is a living, ever-changing and, therefore, we review the current situation to formulate new strategies to make it more competitive.

Given the commercial development of the north, the center of the city-states, can not compete only from a business perspective and must find other things to keep sustain its appeal, through the enhancement of their cultural and artistic values.

Finally, the PSOE mayor warns that the PP in La Glorieta could be misleading to applicants for a parking space in the area, "because if the remains are of great importance and must be preserved in situ, the parking is not constructed unless the archaeological remains were destroyed against the criteria of the CARM.
