UCAM has opened this evening the exhibition 'pain, signs of Spain in Sardinia, a collection of photographic images showing vital aspects of Easter island of Sardinia.
The exhibition, composed of hundreds of images, will remain in the Senate of the UCAM until late April.
In the opening ceremony attended by the Vice Chancellor of Cultural, Joaquin Jares, professor of social anthropology and coordinator of the activity, Manuel Luna, and Professor of History at the University of Cagliari (Sardinia), Giorgio Pellegrini.
According to the coordinator of the exhibition, Professor Manuel Luna, "a photo exhibition includes various aspects of the processions and rituals of Holy Week in Sardinia."
Also explained that "this is a meeting led by a common experience that was developed over four centuries of political coexistence between Spain and Sardinia.
In the middle third millennium, the memory and the presence of Spanish culture in Sardinia remains a significant cultural features, and shows it is this exposure. "

According to Professor Pellegrini, Councillor for Culture of Cagliari, capital of Sardinia, "we have Easter rites that are almost a replica of the Spanish, as well as steps, processions and costumes."
The main difference, pointed out, is that "the Holy Week of Sardinia is less baroque and luxurious, more intimate and easier than Spanish, although living with the same devotion and religious fervor."
