The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, today visited the building area of Information Technology and Communications Applied (ATIC), where she met Recycle Project, which aims to reuse of computer equipment to donate to NGOs and other nonprofit entities.
The Vice Chancellor for Business and Infrastructure, Antonio Calvo-Flores, said that although the project was at the University of Murcia in 2001, was in 2008 when he received "a significant qualitative and quantitative leap" with the signing of an agreement with the region.
Calvo-Flores added that in the past five years have sent about three thousand PCs and monitors the University through the School of Computing, recovered for use.
The grant recipients are developing countries such as India, Paraguay, Mauritania, Angola, Cameroon and Morocco and neighborhood associations, parents' and juveniles.
On this visit were also present rector of the University, José Antonio Cobacho, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Juan Bernal, general manager of Universities, Prof. Eduardo Osuna.
