The research group of Toxicology, University of Murcia, led by Professor Juan Antonio Garcia, one of the thirteen teams of scientists involved in the development of a wastewater treatment plant that can meet the demands of the XXI century .
The project, funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology through the "consolider-Ingenio 2010", its main challenges to improve the processes of wastewater treatment and minimize power requirements and operating costs.
Also aims to reduce sludge production, and all with the least risk to the environment and population.
The research group led by professor Juan Antonio García Fernández participate in the toxicological and ecotoxicological evaluation of effluents obtained during testing of the filter design so as to ensure the safety of the environment and population.
Also focus on testing new methods of toxicological evaluation and improve some existing ones.
The project involves eleven research groups from Spanish universities and two other Dutch universities.
