The PSOE mayor María Dolores Abellon plenary will present this initiative to ask further that the Plan will include policies and programs of public awareness on external cooperation is involved where the social, economic and business of the municipality
The municipality of Murcia is working on development aid directly or indirectly, but, according to the socialist mayor María Dolores Abellon, "we go for a greater involvement in the struggle for achieving the objectives of the Millennium Declaration adopted by the UN as well as to increase the responsibility of administrations to increase development aid to 0.7% of gross domestic product in the shortest time possible. "
Therefore, Abellon forward an initiative in requesting plenary:
The development and implementation of a Municipal Plan of Development Assistance which includes policies and programs of public awareness of external cooperation, with the involvement of the social, economic and business of the municipality, in addition to the measures necessary to allocate part of the municipal budget cooperation projects with the aim that all public authorities in the country 0.7% of its budget to development aid programs.
That the Municipal Plan mark the commitment to allocate to coverage of basic social services (education and health) direct a portion of the total value and commitment to projects for the LDCs, following the guidelines set by the Plan Director of Spanish cooperation.
Council urge the Government of the CARM to take social and financial measures necessary to ensure that our region gradually become involved in achieving that 0.7% of its budget is spent on projects of cooperation
