The Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change Murcia (ALEM) has organized a training course for local technicians on energy certification of buildings.
This initiative seeks to improve municipal staff in managing the tools necessary to estimate the energy performance of any building.
Through these can be designed municipal buildings that use less energy and therefore more sustainable.
The certification of a building is achieved by subjecting himself to an examination by LIDER and CALENER programs developed by the Ministry of Housing, which studies the type of walls, insulation of windows, efficient lighting and air conditioning ... As a result the building receives a label from A to G.
This training course is a collaborative effort of ALEM and CETENMA, the Technology Center for Energy and Environment, with the city of Murcia.
It is a very practical course, conducted in small groups.
Consist of several editions, since the aim is that all technical matters related to municipal receive this training.
In addition, we are studying that ALEM provides such training through other courses outside personnel interested in this field.
The introduction of sustainability criteria in the building is one of the objectives it has set Murcia City Council through the Local Strategy to Combat Climate Change.
It aims, among other things, developing a sustainable building ordinance which provides for introducing at least a measure of bioclimatic design, energy efficiency and sustainability in new buildings to be made within the City of Murcia.
Moreover, within the Strategy, the City Council is committed to designing a development with bioclimatic criteria.
For this, and as shown Adela Martinez-Cache, the City Council sets an example and is a key reference.
That's why the training of its technicians in sustainable construction is key to achieving these goals.
All these activities are also included within the Covenant of Mayors, signed in Brussels on 10 February by the Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Angel House that seeks to make sustainability a reference Murcia, assuming the goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 20 % by 2020 through improved energy efficiency, savings and the introduction of renewable energy.
