Women of Sorrows have today of a new social center hold activities and participate in workshops.
The town hall, located on Calle Infanta Leonor, has a total area of 310 square meters.
The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, presided this morning the inauguration of the new units, in an act that has also had the assistance of the Deputy Mayor for Social Welfare Policy and Equality, María del Carmen Pelegrin, and the President of the Municipal Board, Joaquín López.
According to the program requirements outlined by the Department of Social Welfare and Promotion of Equality, the new women's social center features a gym, auditorium and classrooms for workshops, as well as offices and warehouse.
The cost of property, including furniture, amounted to 760,000 euros.
The Association of the Women's Center was established in December 1988 and had since been used for a building shared activities with other associations.
At present has 300 members and is chaired by Francisca Murciano.
In addition to providing local and execute the works necessary for conditioning, the center of women of Sorrows has, like other centers, a grant from the Department of Social Welfare and Promotion of Equality to implement courses, workshops and cultural programs.
Among the training activities organized and funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Promotion of Equal developed this year is a training course for caregivers of people older than 30 hours.
In 2008 DIY courses conducted a seminar on preventive physiotherapy, a course in information management and Internet Association.
Also, members of the women's center will have municipal aid this year to develop cultural programming, which includes visits to museums and exhibitions and educational and informative lectures, and sports and leisure activities, including yoga and fitness training.
