The City participates in the initiative "I turn out the light to give a respite to the planet" (28/01/2009)

Murcia City Council is working with the initiative "The world is yours is mine, is all, so look after it and turn off the light for 10 minutes to give a break on January 28th."

Therefore, between 19.50 and 20 hours off will proceed to ten facilities and municipal buildings.

In that interval of time will turn off the lights of City Hall in La Glorieta, annexe, Senior Center and Women of San Antón, Puertas de Castilla, Senior Center and Women of St. Basil, St. Basil's Library, the Ship and youth centers and auditoriums Yesqueros Cabezo of Torres and La Alberca.

Turn off all appliances for 10 minutes will mean a significant savings in energy-and fuel-for the planet and take a breath and help prevent global warming.

This is an effort to raise awareness of the enormous damage the environment is suffering because of global warming, and which is illustrated by some endangered species of plants and animals.
