A doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia and analyzing the consequences and planning areas for toxic cloud caused by accidents in the chemical industry has won the first prize for research in the national competition on Civil Protection.
The work, by Francisco Ruiz Boada, provides for the extension of the spaces that could be affected by these accidents and studying preventive measures to be taken in the industry to avoid or mitigate its effects.
The study won first prize, which is endowed with 12,000 euros and convenes the General Directorate of Civil Defense and Emergencies, was directed by Professors Enrique and Agustín González Ferradás Miñana Aznar.
In previous editions, two theses directed by the teachers themselves also achieved this award.
