Prof. Pablo Artal, director of the Laboratory of Optics, University of Murcia, has become the first Spanish scientist who was named a distinguished member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the world's largest organization in these areas .
ARVO was founded in 1928 in Washington (USA) with a mission to promote research to prevent and cure diseases of the visual system.
Much with 11,500 members worldwide and has been granted for the first time the appointment of distinguished members, among whom is Prof. Artal.
Under the terms of the said Association, distinguished members (fellow) serve as role models and mentors for scientists in the field of vision around the world.
The distinction values the contributions of this professor at the University of Murcia and his team at the Laboratory of Optics.
