Murcia Regional Library has today become the first public library in Spain to obtain the certificate of Quality Management System ISO 14001:2004 Environmental.
This recognition certifies the practices of the institution in terms of resource management and saving.
The general director of Books, Archives and Libraries, Francisco Giménez, this morning received the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management from the Director of Bureau Veritas, Spain for the Region of Murcia, Juan Seara, representing the body responsible for granting these licenses quality.
In addition also attended by the general director of Quality and Innovation in Public Service, Diego Cola, and the Regional Library Director Jose Pablo Gallo.
To obtain this mark has conducted numerous performances in terms of waste management and saving.
With regard to consumption savings Regional Library has made, inter alia, a reduction of electricity consumption for lighting by replacing other less polluting elements.
As waste management has reduced the post, has made a distribution of public rooms and offices for special containers for paper, plastic and batteries and also has carried out a normalization of waste management companies for collection and recycling.
In addition, the Regional Library has today renewed the certificate of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management, who once won and became the second organ of the Regional Administration and the second public library in Spain to get it.
"Both distinctive," said general director of the Book, "corroborates the work of the library to achieve the highest level of quality service to the satisfaction of users."
To Giménez, renewal of ISO 9001:2000 "is the culmination of work begun four years ago, by which the Library has always maintained a goal of public service quality and a quest for excellence in providing the same, reorganized its operation to adapt to the demands of a quality system. "
For its part, Diego Cola said the acquisition by the Regional Library, ISO 14001 and the renewal of 9001 "reflect the effort made by the regional government in implementing quality systems in the administration of direct benefit to citizens ".
The CEO of Quality explained that since the Ministry of the Presidency and government "work every day in the design of administrative modernization programs and in encouraging investment that helps improve public services offered by the Community."
