Agreement with Prison to protect the health of inmates Sangonera (12/12/2008)

The Governing Council has authorized the renewal for fiscal 2009 of agreement between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior to ensure the right to health protection in the prison population, which includes collaboration in health care and promoting public health actions to improve the quality of life of the people interned in the prison of Sangonera la Verde (Murcia).

Both administrations cooperate in the areas of Public Health, training of health professionals, conducting additional tests and examinations, as well as specialty consultations, telemedicine, intervention in drug addiction, reservation of beds in the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca of Murcia on pharmaceuticals, among others.

The regional government will receive 412,303 euros of Prisons, on the basis of an allocation of 391 euros per inmate based on an estimate of the number of 1,054 inmates.
