The Minister of Health, María Ángeles Palacios, and the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, today opened the new Health Centre Monteagudo, which will provide quality health care to a population of 14,000 people, to serve Murcia the hamlets of El Esparragal, Cobatillas and Monteagudo.
During the site visit, Palacios noted that the Community has invested more than two million euros in the construction and equipping of it and said: "With this center provides all citizens with a direct attention to new health services such as dentistry and minor surgery, and the inclusion of a specific area for the care of women. "
In addition, the center, located at Avenida Principe de Asturias de Monteagudo, has the usual services of family medicine, pediatrics and nursing.
Also provide service Maternal Education, Preparation for Childbirth and Family Planning.
The new facilities are also equipped with a computerized data network which allows the use of history in the various services and interconnection with other hospitals in the area.
The head of the regional Health toured the building with eight family medicine clinics, two of Pediatrics, a dental office and a dental hygienist and six other nursing visits.
The area of Women and Social Work will be staffed by a social worker and includes consultation with a midwife and waiting room.
It also has administrative offices, personnel and general services.
The new Health Center Monteagudo, which has a total of 2,866 meters squares, spread over two floors and basement, replaced the existing one, whose facilities were inadequate for this area by the population increase recorded in recent years.
Centers under construction
Following the launch of these new units, the Minister Palacios said that this is the second of eight health centers that the regional government plans to build in the municipality of Murcia during the period 2007-2009.
Currently, the Ministry of Health is building four other major health centers more on the Centre Region, Cartagena, Cieza West, Puerto de Mazarrón and Torre Pacheco West, and during the current year have launched eight primary care clinics and ten more are under construction.
