Alcalde, Miguel Angel House, will attend the opening ceremony tomorrow Merklin-Schütze organ of the Cathedral of Murcia, once they have completed the comprehensive restoration work promoted by the Fundación Caja Madrid in collaboration with the Diocese of Cartagena.
At 19.30 hours, the Bishop Bishop Juan Antonio Reig Pla proceed to the solemn blessing of the body in a ritual that will feature performances by Esteban Elizondo, one of the most important Spanish performers of romantic organ, and choral group Schola Antiqua.
Then the organist and professor of Paris Conservatory of Music Michael Bouvard will offer a concert of works by Bach, Mendelssohn and Messiaen.
It has taken three years of work to restore this unique instrument all its glory, in what may be one of the conservation projects most relevant Spanish heritage.
The national Merklin-Schütze Murcia's Cathedral is a monument of the nineteenth century European organ building, construction of which promoted the then chapel master of the Royal Palace, Hilarion Eslava, whose inauguration took place in 1857.
