The University of Murcia has participated in a study that aimed to discover what babies mean when they laugh or cry and the mechanisms to express their emotions.
This scientific work, entitled "Communication gestural and prosodic Baby", allowed the analysis of facial and vocal expression to mourn them in order to find a specific pattern of crying that distinguishes three main emotions associated with it, such as fear , anger and pain.
The study, which has intervened Professor of Psychology at the University of Murcia Francisco Martínez Sánchez along with two other professors at the UNED and the University of Valencia, has revealed that the baby uses laughter as a way to manage interaction in the process of communication with parents and educators.
In tears, it was found that the intensity of this emotion is often associated with the opening of the mouth, while the quality is often related to the activity of the eye area.

It also states that "the two emotions more intense negative hedonic tone, fear and anger displayed in the first months of life in a poorly differentiated, as their common response is crying."
The results of this research have been tested during a demonstration held in the care of "Baby Nuk Institute, an organization participating in the study, located in Valencia.
