Some 15,000 pupils in schools visit the Week of Science and Technology during the first two days of the fair (08/11/2008)

Some 15,000 students in 120 schools have visited the campus of the Week of Science and Technology during the first two days of the fair located in the Botanical Garden of the Malecon and remain open to the public today and tomorrow, from 11:00 to 14:00 hours and 17:00 to 21.00.

The Minister of Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marin, said that "the data that the Ministry has allowed us to have doubled by far, the number of visits to schools over previous editions.

These data demonstrate the growth and expansion of the Science Week. "

Also, Salvador Marin said that "this high interest and participation has been achieved thanks to the programming of over 300 popular science activities and the participation of 47 institutions", which showed its appreciation "for contributing to the dissemination of Science ".

The site of the Science Week at the Botanic Gardens of El Malecon, organized by the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research, through the Seneca Foundation has 70 stands, six more than last year, five tents, a planetarium, a scientific child care, a great stage for scientific and puppet theater, and three exhibition areas.

Specifically, the Fair is divided into six major areas: @ rquímedes on engineering, ICT and innovation, Galileo, mathematics, physics, astronomy, Cajal, aimed at biology, nutrition and health; Keynes, for businesses, Darwin, chemistry and environment, and Florida, the social sciences.

Among the new activities that has the Science Week and is due to its new location, is the Route to the outstanding heritage trees of the Botanical Garden of the Malecon.

The Seneca Foundation has developed a guided tour, which will take place today at 18.00 and tomorrow at 12:00 to help you discover the botanical jewelry holds the Pier.

Each tree has a monumental form with your name (scientific and common names), their morphological characteristics (roots, trunk, branches, leaves, flowers), use and exploitation by man and its origin.

In the Botanical Garden of the Malecon we find trees from Australia, Asian or American, as well as species of European origin.
