The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, presented this morning the first activities that will start the new Centre of Design and Architecture, and the design of the premises to be located between the street of Carlos III and the Square Aurora de Murcia.
The event also were responsible for three of the central advisory committee, Jorge Martinez, head of the area of Design, and José María Torres Nadal and Juan Antonio Sanchez Morales, in charge of the area of Architecture.
This observatory will work from four lines dedicated to fashion design, industrial, graphic and architecture, all operating in two main areas: Design and Architecture.
Pedro Medina is the advisory line of fashion design.
During the presentation, Cruz explained that the Centre "was created with the dual purpose of combining creativity and achieve economic and advantageous application of the idea in the market dynamics."
The Minister of Culture said that "through the placement of the idea in the market, we get an understanding as necessary as non-existent so far in the region, including the creative sector and the business sector, creating networks that feed the few to the other and that are a priority if we want both the culture and the business sector to develop to the extent we would wish. "
In addition, this observatory is to serve as the headquarters of speeches and the latest novel that will focus on ideas such as sustainability, climate change, energy conservation and new technologies, "said Cruz.
For this, among other actions, the observatory will conduct a system of collaboration with the School of Art and Design in the Region of Murcia, as well as two reference design institutions such as the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid and Foment Institute of Arts of Design in Barcelona, allowing the creation of a triangle that focuses the world of design in Spain between Barcelona, Madrid and Murcia.
Programming
To accomplish these objectives, the Centre of Design and Architecture in the Region of Murcia will launch various activities using different formats.
So, is scheduled for a cocktail in which public and lecturers will find so relaxed, breaking the typical lecture format, and making it a social event which will bring together design professionals.
Also conducted a workshop production of annual development where designers and manufacturers to address a contemporary issue of relevance, this initiative its creators seek final production of quality items.
The Centre will also host exhibitions of its own, which will spark interest in the design of the Murcia Region in the national context, as well as traveling exhibits to disclose the work of designers of national and international level.
In addition, it conducted research seminars and conferences of analysis, will discuss issues of importance in the field of design and architecture, as well as meetings between regional actors and contests.
Among the projects which includes the observatory is also the creation of an editorial in architecture and design.
The seat of the Centre will be inaugurated during the month of January 2009.
However, the program will begin on 17 November with a meeting that runs until the 19th and will bring together professionals in the Region of Murcia, in order that detailed knowledge of the project and identify possible courses of action based on the real needs of the sector.
Thus, on 17 will be held the meeting with professional graphic design and visual communication, 18 will address the architecture and 19 Industrial Design and Fashion.
On 27 November, held the first cocktail, which will be attended by Fernando Gutierrez, "one of the most important graphic designers in the history of our country," said Jorge Martinez.
November 28 will be held at the Auditorium the round table 'Design and social mobilization', in which six studies of regional and national show as many projects and will discuss the design capacity to mobilize society.
December 4 will be held on the second cocktail of the Centre, this time with the vice president of the Academy of Milan Domun, Ezio Manzini, by invitation, is "one of the most interesting theoretical design of Europe," said Jorge Martinez.
From 8 to 12 December will run the workshop 'Design as a value-added production processes' with the keynote by the founder of Vinçon, Fernando Amat, and the winner of a National Design Award, Pati.

December 11 will open the exhibition 'Happy end.
Ten design process with a happy ending 'to be held at the Centro Parraga until 30 January and will also feature an inaugural lecture by the curators of the exhibition, Ana Mir and Emili Padrós, EmilianaDesign study.

The architect Martin Lejárraga has been responsible for creating the design of the seat of the Centre of Design and Architecture.
