It is my honor to accompany the general director of Support of Victims of Terrorism, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribe, the town of Murcia in general and victims of terrorism in particular in the opening ceremony of the Conference of the Association of Victims of Terrorism in the Region of Murcia and your new home.
Terrorism has proven to be the main threat to security that modern societies are facing today.
The only goal of the terrorists is to subject the public to tyranny and the intransigence of their ideas, so in this fight is everything to play with democracy and the defense of our values.
Terrorism has been overcome since the strength of the institutions.
The rule of law and the union of all social classes, police, politicians and citizens in general should contribute to successfully face this struggle.
The Democratic strategy should be based firmly on the effectiveness of our security forces and a strong cooperative effort at the international level.
I take this opportunity to pay before you a deserved tribute to our security forces, our police and our Guardia Civil.
They are our defense against these murderers and, for that matter, many of them have been victims of this scourge.
Their struggle is our struggle, his work has saved many lives, and we expect work to be decisive in the final defeat of terrorism in general and in particular ATS.
Along with the security forces, political representatives are one of the groups most threatened by terrorism, and that goal to silence the people's voice in itself gives an idea of the vileness of its purposes, since their means are qualified themselves.
Ladies and gentlemen, claiming the role of victims of terrorism as protagonists in spite of the recent history of Spain is a question of dignity.
His voice and his presence should also be a fundamental part of our response as a society against terrorists, which obliges them to them and supporting them to live daily with the pain they have caused, not to underestimate as collateral damage , as claimed.
No. The pain is the only direct consequence of their actions and jail the only fate that awaits them for it.
The Government of Spain, through the Security Forces of the State, continue to make his determination to take them sooner rather than later before the chief judge and the jail later.
Let me end these brief remarks, congratulating the Association of Victims of Terrorism in the Region of Murcia, as delegate of the Government of Spain in the Murcia Region, responsible for our security forces, but above all, as citizens, to carry out initiatives like the Conference of Victims of Terrorism, which have organized and we are inaugurating today, and the operation of your new home.
Both situations indicate the vitality of this organization is so appreciated and supported by the Spanish people as well.
