The Deputy Mayor of Education and Personal, Pilar Megía, met this morning with the heads of eleven schools in the county to let them know the works of architectural barriers that will begin next November.
"The removal of architectural barriers is one more step in the Department plan to expand access to schools in the municipality of Murcia, for what is going to continue to submit projects in future calls," he pointed Megía.
These actions will be carried out thanks to a grant awarded by the Autonomous Community of Murcia, amounting to 240,358.80 euros.
In total there are eleven projects works to eliminate architectural barriers, of which four were executed during the summer.
Completed actions have been performed at the following locations: CEIP José Rubio Gomariz (Cabeza de Torres), CEIP Nuestra Senora de la Arrixaca (Murcia), CEIP Fleet (Murcia) and Our Lady of Atocha CEIP Santiago and Zaraiche (Murcia) .
The works of architectural barriers, which are to be taken in different schools in the neighborhoods and districts of the municipality, will focus on the installation of lifts, ramps, gates and doors; adequacy of various spaces, installation of handrails and railings, and adapt the toilets of educational buildings, primary and special education.
The projects will start performing from next November will be:
CEIP Holy Christ of Mercy (Murcia)
CEIP Santa Maria de Gracia,
CEED cold sores, Santiago and Zaraiche,
CEIP San Andrés (Murcia)
CEED Churra Pérez Urrutia,
CEIP Francisco Cobacho (Algezares)
CEIP Juan XXIII Las Lumbreras (Monteagudo).
The start of construction is scheduled for next November and is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
Note that the actions to be carried out not disrupt the normal development of the teaching work being done in different centers.
