Alongside sport and culture, the environment has become the third pillar that supports the Olympic movement and therefore the sport.
On this basis it has built the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, his speech at the opening ceremony of the Sport and Environment conference which took place this morning at the Spanish Olympic Committee.
House, president of the Sports Commission of the FEMP, highlighted the collaboration of the Spanish Olympic Committee and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces for the integration of environmental and sustainability criteria in the sport locally.
The result of this understanding was born Green Play Project, a bet of cities and the Olympic movement to improve the quality of life of Spanish applying environmental principles to the sport in its various aspects.
Murcia acceded to this plan by resolution of the Board of Governors on October 1 in a bid to advance in the four areas of the sport most likely to promote the integration of environmental criteria:
Sporting events, applying sustainable principles in its organization and management
The design and construction of new sports facilities should incorporate environmental criteria
The implementation of management systems in existing facilities and consolidated by introducing good environmental practices, or even incorporating the environmental management system in the same
The daily activities of sporting bodies.
In this field, encouraging the promotion of values and good environmental practices among sports organizations and their members, considering, among other possible measures the value of these best practices on the bases of calls for grants and aid.
Among other things, take into account the architecture and sustainable building, water conservation, efficiency and energy diversification, renewable energy, reducing, reusing and recycling waste, reducing air emissions and noise pollution as well as the protection of green areas and biodiversity.
