UPyD full statement:
UNION progress and democracy, as a party to any democratic
believes that freedom of expression is one of the pillars of coexistence
therefore rejects democratic ideological censorship and attempts to bring the
cultural development in the interests of rulers.
Therefore, the Regional Association of Murcia Region UNION
PROGRESS AND DEMOCRACY protest at the abolition of the spectacle of Leo
Bassi under the Alter Art Festival.
From UPyD Murcia Region sympathize with Leo Bassi, with
Festival officials who resigned, and the many artists
who have refused to participate in the festival in defense of freedom
expression and protest against censorship.
We believe that they have all
as an example of civic engagement in defense of freedom of expression
and creation.
We encourage citizens of the region, whatever their views
political or religious, to defend freedom of expression attending
activities organized by artists censored or solidarity with them.
The awkward explanation that the Minister of Culture has given to try
justify the measure merely make it clearer, if possible, it is a pure
act of censorship.
This act of censorship is an attack on freedom of
expression and an attempt to use taxpayers' money for
propaganda of the ruling party.
And it is also treating citizens
Region as juveniles.
Thus the Minister of Culture has shown
not living up to its responsibilities, so we asked for his resignation or
cessation.
