Service Research Support (SAI), University of Murcia, which in 5 years has invested more than 8 million in new scientific equipment, today introduced an informative guide which sets out the activities offered in different areas and will be distributed companies and institutions.
The Vice Chancellor for Research, Juan María Vázquez, said at a press conference that this guide covers the supply of technical analysis, providing services to research groups, government agencies and private companies.
The UPS conducts its work in 11 areas: image analysis, laboratory animals, molecular biology, scientific computing and statistical support, tissue culture, agriculture and forestry experimentation, scientific and psychological instrumentation, microscopy, radiation protection and waste and support workshops research.
Vazquez said that currently the UPS provides services to 300 research groups at the university, public hospitals in the region, the National Research Council, the University and companies that target the investigating agency.
In this regard, noted that currently has 350 external research contracts from companies and institutions as well as those generated in and for the entire University of Murcia.
Vasquez said that one of the objectives of the publication is "to communicate information flow to neighboring universities to learn about the techniques that can be found at the center for their research."
He stressed the professionalism and knowledge of staff of the UPS, which he described as "the best scientific instrumentation service for miles around."
The center will expand its infrastructure when it opens the future Campus of Health Sciences, located near the hospital "Virgen de la Arrixaca" in the hamlet of El Palmar Murcia.
For its part, the rector, José Antonio Cobacho, also highlighted the active participation of this educational institution in projects like Parque Tecnológico de Fuente Alamo and the Science Park.
