The Department of Youth and Employment of the City of Murcia, with the collaboration of the Department of Health and Human Services, and the participation of youth organizations, cultural and social aspects of town, is launching a new social action project in Murcia, innovative program whose purpose is to promote social inclusion, coexistence and participation of young immigrants in social, political, economic and cultural development of the municipality and the prevention of discriminatory, racist and xenophobic attitudes through awareness programs.
The activities will start on Saturday 11 October from 9.30 pm with a meeting on youth training, participation and immigration, to be held in the Municipal Center La Nave.
The priority age group of the program are young people between 12 and 24, although the activities may be aimed at people between 8 and 35, so that involved 7,000 young people, of whom at least 30% of immigrant population.
The city of Murcia has developed over the past 20 years a process of population growth the highest in the country, which has made Murcia on Spain's seventh largest city by population, with 422,861 people living in it.
This growth factor in the immigrant population being 50,397 people, about 12% of citizens of the municipality, of which a large volume are young.
Given this reality, for the future development of the municipality of Murcia is necessary to start a project of Social and Community Intervention for a direct and comprehensive, to promote the integration of young immigrants across the city of Murcia, facilitate social inclusion and promote citizen participation and sharing as a means to prevent hazardous situations.
Among the activities included in this program include:
Research: A study to know the conditions of coexistence and sociability of the young new neighbors with interviews and discussion groups.
In situ observations are made in some places significant leisure in the town and from there get a local social landscape.
Awareness Campaign - information: There will be an awareness campaign to prevent racist and xenophobic behavior, performed by young people themselves.
Training and Technical Assistance, training activities will be conducted according to the needs of groups and youth groups both young and new neighbors for nationals.
Intercultural Advocacy: This opens the possibility for that from groups, associations or even groups of young people constituted as an association proposed intercultural activities in various parts of the city of Murcia.
In addition to the local youth forums will build the streets, parks, market days, the meeting places for immigrants, the educational institutions to conduct such actions.
Expression promoting youth activities: It will promote joint meeting spaces (new neighbors youth and young Spanish) about different possibilities of expression as youth music, hip-hop, graffiti, video, photography, comics, etc ....
Leisure and free time for the weekend: In addition to the intercultural and youth expression, opens the possibility to develop proposals for specific activities, promoting joint meeting spaces in activities like sports and outdoor adventure, workshops and courses, cultural, etc ...
