The Mayor of Murcia has accompanied members of the rock The Quince at the opening of its new headquarters in Santiago and Zaraíche (04/10/2008)

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, reiterated this week his appreciation and gratitude to the vegetable garden rocks for the work in the maintenance and dissemination of traditions and customs.

House has presided over the opening of the rock El Membrillo, James and Zaraíche, once they have completed the work carried out at its headquarters.

The Mayor has discovered a plaque commemorating this event, which has brought together many of the more than 150 families that make up the rock, with more than 400 members.

Together with the Mayor and President de la Peña, Diego Perán, have also gathered at the ceremony the President of the Municipal Board and Zaraíche Santiago, José María Puig, and Council Members Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, Adela Martinez-Cacho, Rafael Gómez, José Miguel Arce and Cascales.

In addition to the Cultural Week, which this year will start next Saturday, 18 -, "El Membrillo" features a sample of folklore and the preparation of sweet and liquor with the fruit that gives its name to the rock.

Following the recipe of Ana Maria Rosagro, prepared every two years about 70 liters of liquor distributed in 4 bottles quince.

Both sweet as the drink is offered as tasting during the Spring Festival.
