IU + Greens municipality of Murcia raise in Parliament next Thursday, September 25, a motion requesting the implementation of a process for the district level of public transport in the capital.
Councillor of this political, Esther Herguedas today expressed the need to carry out this proposal as "a service as fundamental as public transport, especially in cities such as Murcia, with a significant number of people, must remain outside private management. "
He said that, "providing this service through the concession to a private company Murcia is causing hands and feet tied to the fluctuations of the concessionaire."
"Recent regional public transport strike is an example of this," he said Herguedas after stating that citizens "do not understand why the council's inability to resolve a conflict that has mainly affected the capital."
He said IU + Greens has called for municipal intervention on this matter, which said it had missed "some decision-making capacity" while expressing his "fear" that the resolution of this conflict involves the assumption of wage improvements for employees required by the municipality.
He also stressed that public transport municipalization imply its management with social performance criteria, not economic, and ensure a benefit to the environment by significantly reducing the need for the individual use of private transport.
"In our town it is necessary rearrangement of the lines to reach all points, the extended hours of service delivery and improvement and modernization of the fleet, setting bonuses for frequent users and the construction of exclusive platforms ".
It also advocated the improvement of accessibility in all vehicles, the adjustment of the stops and the appropriate development of information system users.
