The Department of Sports City of Murcia, headed by Miguel Cascales, supports the practice and dissemination of Volleyball.

The Governing Board has approved a grant of 60,000 euros for the conclusion of the Championship Finals in Spain Beach Volleyball 2008, to be held this weekend, from 12 to 14 September at the Polideportivo Jose Barnes de Murcia.

The central tennis Joseph Barnes has become a beach volleyball court thanks to the work of the Sports Department.

For the volleyball court has been necessary to bring 300 tons of sand.

In addition the Council is studying the possibility of saving the track, once the final order to install a few months a year in Murcia and the Murcia promote and enjoy this spectacular sport.

The competition schedule is as follows:

-Thursday, September 11, qualifying round male

-Friday, September 12, women's final round and first round phase of the male

-Saturday, September 13, semifinals and women's final (21.30) and second phase of the round male

-Sunday, September 14, semifinals and men's final (13 hours)

The matches start at 9.00 pm except on Sunday start at 11.00.

Access to all matches is free.

In total twelve couples will compete in nine categories, male and female.

The main men's favorites are: Da Silva and Lluis Genilda Badosa, Manuel Carrasco and Jesus Ruiz, Miguel Angel Amo and Jose Manuel Ariza, and Gerard Cabanes and Lluis de Senespleda.

In the women's favorites are: Ester Alcon and Olga Matveeva, Cati Pol Alejandra Borrás and Simon, Esther Fernnández Bank and Beni, and Barrio, Veronica Patricia Zamora.

The champions will receive the title of Champions of Spain 2008.

Spain Championship Beach Volleyball is the main sport event of this taking place in our country.

This campaign is the eighteenth edition of the Championship of Spain Beach Volleyball, the national tour began in 1991.

The City is working with the federations and sports organizations that strive to spread the love and practice of physical activity and sport, to cooperate in holding tournaments, trophies and competitions.

Murcia is very interesting for the conclusion of the final phase of a very spectacular championship as Beach Volleyball, which will also help to popularize and spread the sport of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball general in particular.
