These centers, employees of the Department of Social Welfare and Equality Policies, offering older people personal primary care both in health and free time to enjoy better quality of life and autonomy in their usual environment.
More than one hundred largest municipality benefit from these centers for people over 60 who are in situations of moderate physical or mental disability, and where family and social support (home help, tele ...) is insufficient.
Day Care Centers are a vital support for families with older disabled dependents, avoiding family and personal conflicts that occur when you try to combine the permanence of the older person at home with today's lifestyles.
Center hours are Monday to Friday from 7.30 to 21 hours.
The seniors receive health care, personal care, food assistance and nutrition, fitness and carry out consultation with physiotherapy.
They also have psychological and social care, occupational therapy and free transportation.
In addition, it provides support and intervention with families.
Day Care Centers have a coordinator, a specialist in geriatrics, social worker, psychologist, a nurse, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist and six assistants geriatrics, as well as service personnel.
