Full integration of the current section 0 of the tram line 1.

3.

Feasibility studies and initial environmental impact studies for future lines 2, 3 and 4.

These studies must be lodged within 7 months and its contents will select the best options for future lines.

4.

Perform feasibility study and blueprint for the construction of the circular plaza that will link with the station of El Carmen.

This study, which should be completed within a maximum period of 5 months, is the blueprint for the implementation of the work.

The deadline for execution of works is 13 months, which will add another 6 months to run various tests and ensuring the proper functioning of the line.

In this way, is expected to begin testing facilities around April 2010.

Thus, in late 2010, the tram will be open.

What is the cost of the project?

The launch of the new tram becomes the biggest gamble in history municipal city of Murcia, second only in the area of the region for the future airport.

Furthermore, there is a municipal investment, but the future concessionaire of the line, which, in turn, will get its operation over the next 40 years.

Thus, the new tram will be a reduction for municipal investment capacity.

The forecast states that investment spending in the work will reach 165 million euros, the concessionaire will have to invest in the 13 months provided the assistance to build infrastructure.

This amount is in addition another 37 million in rolling stock, bringing the figure closer to 202 million euros.

More jobs

The construction of this first line will generate the creation of 250 direct jobs and 600 indirect jobs, while mining is employed 85 people (55 of them with direct employment).

According to estimates, 27,000 people travel daily on the tram for the year of its launch, rising to 34,000 in 2015.

This route stops are 27, after incorporating the suggestions made in the period of exposure to enable a stop next to Mount Athletic Stadium Romeo and one in Juan de Borbón.

Another seven interchanges will be created (mixed tram-bus stops) in Circular plaza, Avenida Juan Carlos I and Calle Tierno

Galván, Universidad de Murcia, UCAM, Avenida Juan de Borbon with Fleet Avenue, and Torres Cabezo New Condomina Municipal Stadium.

The catenary is buried in the path that runs from the Plaza Circular to Avenida Juan de Borbon, in order to reduce the visual impact in this urban area and encourage the accessibility of emergency vehicles.

The tram will always have priority traffic lights will be located in a platform-independent and frequency at peak times will be between six and eight minutes.

The commercial speed is 23 mph and in a year will travel 965,000 kilometers.

235 record shipments in one business day type.

The construction of this first line will generate the creation of 250 direct jobs and 600 indirect jobs, while mining is employed 85 people (55 of them with direct employment).

The investment cost will amount to 178.8 million euros.

The urban integration of the tram is guaranteed.

Some sections are significant:

- Plaza Circular: The tram will be in the outer ring on both sides entering the offices of Aguas de Murcia and flowing south to continue on Ronda de Levante.

At all times respect the garage access and passage of emergency vehicles.

Be expanded sidewalks and pedestrian access into the plaza and will respect existing trees.

A new paving ensure integration of the tram, which will have a heat exchanger in the southern section (between Alfonso X and Ronda de Levante).

And medium-sized beds are deleted.

- Ronda de Levante: We restructured keeping three lanes in each direction and eliminate the current medium, protecting the route of the tram with other elements.

The catenary will be buried from Avenida Juan Carlos I to Avenida Juan de Borbon.

- Avenue of Fleet: We maintain two-way lanes and tram lines will be located in the center of the track.

- Juan de Borbón: The tram runs along both sides of the avenue.

Will remain the three lanes each way and remove the medium side.

It features a new stop at the height of Senda de Granada.

- Access commercial and recreational areas: the plot moves eastward relative to the initial estimates at the entrance to New Condomina, on the left bank of the Wadi Churra.

Also relocating the workshops and garages in another piece of equipment with more surface area, away from the shopping area and adding a new stop.

In addition, shortening the journey by almost 1km to New Condomina Stadium and give better service to the village of La Ladera.

- Avenida Juan Carlos I and Calle Tierno Galván, lanes will be restructured with three feet wide and that the tram will be inserted into the core.

- Ring Road, University of Murcia: The tram will be located at the outer edge of the ring road.

The implementation of Murcia tram will place among the great European cities, said today the mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, who recalled that "it is the transport medium of the future."

Means greater passenger capacity, speed and punctuality, non-polluting and is efficient from the standpoint of energy consumption.

It is also cheaper, accessible and safe.

Other lines

Regarding the lines 2, 3 and 4 (cross form join the cardinal points of the municipality: Espinardo campus and Los Jeronimos, new developments in the north, Beniaján / Torreagüera / San José de la Vega / Los Garros Arrixaca / El Palmar, Sangonera La Verde / Industrial Park West), the Mayor has announced that its pipeline will be addressed jointly, once the line 1.

Respect for the Environment

The environmental impact study of the preliminary draft of the tram line 1 lists the improvements in traffic, environmental and urban planning will involve the construction and commissioning of this mode of transport.

It also establishes the optimal conditions for the implementation of the tram so as to produce the greatest positive environmental impact.

Thus, states that the tram will reduce current levels of emission of gases and particles into the atmosphere as it does not use fossil fuels.

With the introduction of tram infrastructure will prevent the emission of 36,300 tonnes of CO2, reducing the release of carbon dioxide by 34.38%.

Likewise, the areas through which the tram will see a significantly reduced noise emissions and that, at maximum speeds, generated a maximum of 60 decibels, well below the daytime noise levels in an area of high urban density and traffic.

Regarding energy expenditure, this system is one of the least energy consumed by electric traction, because it carries a single passenger vehicle to the same three buses (consumes ten times less energy than a bus) and because the tram to retrieve braking energy in returning to the catenary.

The environmental impact study also notes that the installation and operation of this transport is cheaper than a meter and to build it is only a sixth of what it would take the same path of one meter.

Another important point is referred to the assets.

According to the study, the installation of Travian affect any item of cultural heritage, only the former Zaraíche station, so it will be necessary to incorporate this track vibration system, more special than you already have in the whole journey.

Also notes that the tram is urbanized city in terms of new environmental parameters that have the biggest beneficiaries to pedestrians and public transport.

This will create new areas of coexistence tram-pedestrian, without the presence of cars, and create new spaces for ecomobility through intermodal rail connection paths.

According to the study, the introduction of tram carries a major urban redevelopment, with a feedback of the ways in which it circulates.

Thus, renewed sidewalks, pavement and street furniture will improve the accessibility of the streets to people with reduced mobility and increase the number of trees.

Also modify the current patterns of urban mobility because it is a quality public transport, punctual and safe, and enhances its other intermodal transportation.

The report also highlights the tramway will help reduce accidents and is considered one of the safest means of transport, with one accident for every million hours circulating.

This environmental impact assessment, endorsed by the Association of Biologists, set as a final conclusion that the proposed tram line 1 is clearly positive and the environmental condition is favorable.
