The prize was awarded to the work called "Resilience and disability: a positive approach to the study of parental adaptation in families of children with spina bifida," prepared by Rosa Maria Limiñana Gras, Fracisco Javier Corbalan Berná and Maria Teresa Calvo Fill in the department personality, psychological treatment evaluation of the School of Psychology at the University of Murcia.
Involved in this issue the City of Murcia, the Autonomous Community of Murcia University and the city of Totana.
The Federation of Murcia to the Physically Disabled and / or Organic established a Working Committee composed of different members of the associations of the Federation with the purpose of conducting various events and projects as a tribute to the work of the previous Chairman Manzano Diego López, who died in 2002, around the group of people with disabilities and for associations in general.
Many awards have been made to the figure of Diego Manzano, as the homage paid on 28 November at the Teatro Romea, the opening in Totana a Garden that bears his name, the proposal and approval of the Distinguished Service Diploma Autonomous Community of Murcia, yet Famdif considered the collective efforts and commitment to the disabled deserve more recognition.
To this was created in 2003 the National Research Award "Diego Manzano", with the collaboration of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, the city of Murcia, Totana City Council and the University of Murcia.
The National Research Award "Manzano Diego Lopez" was created in order to stimulate, broaden and deepen research in the field of physical and functional disabilities, to reach greater heights in the quality of life of persons with disabilities and their environment.
The works that are eligible for the National Research Award should base their research on topics related to physical and / or organic in any of the social, medical, biological, psychosocial or educational.
The award, which will be edited and published by the University of Murcia, is endowed with 6,000 euros.
