Provide a first humanitarian shelter and care necessities to people or immigrant families, taking steps to enable their social integration, covering basic needs (of residence, health, education, maintenance and providing support services for adaptation) is a priority objective of Municipality of Murcia.
Since 1993, the City of Murcia has been working and supporting social initiatives that are taking place from the Diocesan Caritas Association Murcia, which include the development of projects such as "welcome center and child care" and "host homes for immigrants, where they paid particular attention to minors.
In this regard, the Governing Board of the City of Murcia has this morning approved the renewal of the collaboration with the Diocesan Caritas Association Murcia to move forward with the projects mentioned above.
Under this agreement, the City of Murcia provide the amount of 195,000 euros to help make Diocesan Caritas Murcia continue carrying out such projects.
With the grant earmarked by the City of Murcia, more than 600 people (children and immigrants) will support actions undertaken by the association during 2008.
The actions included in the project Cayama, shelters and care of children are:
Development of children and families by raising awareness of the importance of incorporating children to school.
Development of coexistence and relationship skills that enable adequate active membership to the school environment and social development from their own cultural identity.
Create an emotional reference space for children where their basic needs, training, food, entertainment and affection.
Encourage families to see the importance of having their children attend school regularly, in order to eliminate truancy.
