IU + Los Verdes de Murcia file a motion to the House of 24th July for the development of a sustainable mobility plan that includes vehicle deterrent and encourage pedestrian, bicycle use, public transport and intermodality.
This was announced today at a press conference the councilor of the coalition of the City of Murcia, Esther Herguedas, accompanied by the spokesman of the Greens in that locality, Elías López Ros.
Herguedas said that that plan must contain a "rigorous and scientific diagnosis of the situation and the needs of Murcia mobility today and in the future."
He added that this document "can not be created to get by" but must be "rational" and based on the consensus of political, social and civic and professional specialists.
The mayor explained that the city of Murcia has taken "many commitments" since 2005 about sustainable mobility, but said that "after so much propaganda may seem that this plan is done and running but nothing is further from the reality. "
He also proposed to attend the call for aid from the Ministry of Public Works for the promotion of sustainable mobility in urban and metropolitan areas and urged the Governing Council of the Region of Murcia to approve a law that includes measures to reduce car use and promote public transport.
For his part, Elias Lopez expressed concern about the high levels of air pollution and stressed the importance of creating sustainable plan, as reported, has been produced in cities like Cordoba and Vitoria.
