This new route will pass passenger trains and goods moving from Murcia bound for Alicante Mediterranean Corridor and vice versa.
Once commissioning route of Alicante, Adif starts the connection work for the second route linking the Cartagena Murcia Reguerón variant.
Until the end of the work, trains to and from Cartagena circulated by the current route that passes through the towns of Beniaján, TorreagĂźera and Ramos-The Stables.
Once all the pieces of the Alternative Reguerón the commissioning of the Murcia-Cartagena-trip scheduled for late July, will take out the removal of rail traffic from pk to pk 471 462'2 ' 1, where the route runs through Beniaján populations, and Ramos-TorreagĂźera Stables, Chinchilla line-Cartagena, Murcia between stations del Carmen Ramos-The Stables.

The entry into operation of Variant Reguerón allow passenger trains and goods traversing the Iberian gauge section Murcia access line speed of 8.8 kilometers, which represents an investment of millions 72'83 euros.
The platform will have access to Murcia in the final state of a platform with dual gauge track UIC and Iberian gauge track.
Now it has established national wide double track and a road section in the area of technical building of the bifurcation.
To allow wide change once you reach high speed to Murcia, the stretch of Reguerón variant was constructed with cross-purpose, allowing the passage of wide international Iberian quick operation and without changing the structure work.
In the section of the variant Reguerón have implemented security installations and communications support for automatic block and subsequent implementation of the CTC (Centralized Traffic Control).
Has an electronic lock, with flashing lights and security system ASFA (Notice of Signals and Brake Auto).
It has built a technical building for traffic control and a power line of 3,000 volts
This project is funded by the ERDF Operational Programme in the Region of Murcia from 2000 to 2006.
Co-financing rate is 50%.
