More than 3 million people in Spain have opted for self-employment, of whom about 95,000 reside in the Region.
Murcia has always been distinguished by the entrepreneurial spirit of its citizens and the growing presence of men and women who choose self-employment is very significant.
In 2000 the region had fewer than 71,000 self-employed, compared to the 105,000 currently registered.
Murcia is also one of the regions with the greatest increase in foreign self-employed.
As the municipality, last year were exempted from paying business tax for a total of 45,000 professionals and small businesses against just 5,000 activities subject to this tax.
The mayor also noted the opportunity to organize this conference at a time when the economic and commercial and employment do not go through the best moments, why is the chance to "unite all efforts to keep the self- ensuring economic development, progress and prosperity that is generating the welfare of Murcia.
