In order to motivate students in learning and complying with traffic regulations, creating attitudes of respect and civic responsibility as well as sensitization and awareness on prevention of accidents, the City of Murcia, through the Department of Education , celebrates a new edition of the local road safety education and accident prevention.
This year marks the nineteenth edition and is aimed at school children 3 of high school in the municipality of Murcia, the youngest drivers on public roads, and therefore the population in which more is there to insist when we talk about prevention .
The Deputy Mayor of Education, Pilar Megía stressed that "the high turnout that is recorded each year shows that our goal, to motivate students to learn traffic rules and be aware of their compliance is being met ".
From City of Murcia is push the task of prevention and education, as is the administration closer to citizens and to better know the different realities.
The General Regulations Driver was partially modified in the RD dated January 25, 2008, the new text modifies the requirements for obtaining a driver's license for mopeds.
The rule increases the minimum age required to drive these vehicles at 15 years old, and therefore this year the competition is open to students of 3 º ESO.
Thus, students who participated in last year may not do this.
The contest is theoretical and deals with traffic rules, traffic signs and first aid, so that rewards both participation of centers as the individual efforts of the students.
The local competition of road safety education and accident prevention consists of the following phases:
The first phase (held between February and March 2008) was performed on each of the participating schools.
The second phase (which is what takes place today) is held in the hall of the Local Police of Murcia, where students will have to do a theoretical test, with a total of 30 items.
At this stage brings together over 350 students.
The third phase will be held next May, will overcome the ten groups whose students get the highest score of the teams who passed the second phase.
The awards given are:
First prize.
For the center: one thousand euros and for the team, three motorcycles and trophies.
Second prize.
For the center: 600 euros and for the team: three aluminum bikes and trophies.
Third prize.
The center will get 300 euros and equipment: 3 wii and trophies.
Fourth prize.
Three bicycles.
Fifth prize.
Three photographic equipment.
Sixth prize.
Three mp4.
All students receive a diploma for their participation.
