The City continues its intention to implement actions to reduce CO2 emissions and energy saving.
The Governing Board gave its approval to the project to install solar thermal panels in different sports facilities in the municipality and with an investment of 200,000 euros.
In total seven facilities that will provide solar thermal energy by the end of the year: the pool Mar Menor, Infante, El Palmar, Bacons Bridge and Inacua, the Sports Center of the Fleet and the Palacio de los Deportes.
This project will achieve three goals in each of the facilities:
Solar-minimum annual contribution of 92,000 kWH.
-Annual reduction in the emission of pollutants: CO2: 124Tm, SO2, and NOx 160kg: 200kg.
-Reduction in consumption of the order of: 40,000 liters of diesel and 14,000 m3 of gas.
Way to achieve a reduction of about 50% of both the air emissions of polluting gases, and consumption of fossil fuels.
The aim is to reduce the cost of fossil fuels and the emission of greenhouse gases, in addition to serving as a tool for public awareness on the use of alternative energy.
This measure is part of the Local Operational Programme which was signed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities, through which it contributes to sustainable urban development in the context of European and Spanish territorial strategy.
Since 2000, this program has brought Murcia investments amounting to 12.6 million euros, of which 8.6 million came from grants from the European Union.
