The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, received this morning in Madrid the Green Flag, awarded by the City Manager Users and Consumers Federation of Independent (FUCI), together with the Biodiversity Foundation for the environmentally sound management conducted by the City Council Murcia.
This prize, awarded in a ceremony held at the Hotel Ritz, recognizing the efforts made by the City to improve the sustainability of urban environment.
The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, expressed his satisfaction that the town has been recognized for its work and announced that Murcia will continue to meet goals to lead in sustainability through environmental education and provision of additional means for improving the collection and home.
Chamber recalled that Murcia is a world leader in water conservation because it has the most efficient network of water supply and sanitation and the daily consumption per capita is well below the national average.
In this sense emphasizes the role of government as essential to enable a promising future, which will continue to recognize the efficient management of natural resources, especially in regard to water.
The City Council has awarded the Green Flag award in four of the five different types, and among them, with one of the highest levels in their commitment to the environment:
-Waste, cleaning and gardening
-Environmental commitment;
-Water management and environmental education
-Participation.
FUCI rewards, values and encourages the responsible management of environmental resources by municipalities through this award.
To give this distinctive FUCI addresses various aspects of local management and treatment of solid waste, the implementation of initiatives related to the environment and sustainability and action for responsible consumption.
The Federation of Independent Users and Consumers (FUCI) is a statewide association that was founded in 1986 and is affiliated to several international organizations.
Since 1997, the award-winning "Green Flag" City Manager ", which is the tenth edition of the award.
