Murcia has hosted the Second Meeting of the European 'Intelligent Energy for Europe "program of work that includes five European energy agencies of the IEE (Intelligent Energy for Europe), organized by the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change Murcia ( ALEM) in collaboration with the City.
The meeting was held in Murcia attended by representatives of the Energy Agencies of Bordeaux (France), Riga (Latvia), Latina (Italy) and Porto (Portugal).

The second item of business was to study and feasibility of new renewable energy sources.

This meeting has helped establish the foundation for future joint projects on energy management, street lighting being one of the first points of analysis.

Representatives of these agencies of Energy, and various political positions of these countries have visited the facilities of the sewage Edar-East, managed by EMUASA (Empresa Municipal de Aguas y Saneamiento de Murcia), technical visit all have valued very positively.
The local project on upgrading of biogas EMUASA develops and operates these facilities was greatly praised by these European partners.
Remember that the goal of this project is a biogas purification at the treatment plant in Murcia-East, a further reformed and thus obtain a synthesis gas suitable for use as raw material in a fuel cell that generates power supply.
This provides two benefits: removal of a contaminant and byproduct energy cost savings.
The City of Murcia and ALEM now studying a program focused on the decontamination and upgrading of biogas generated in sewage treatment plants, a program that is framed from local targets to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
The next meeting of European partners transnational energy will take place in late autumn in Riga, the birthplace of the Commissioner for Energy European Union, Andris Pieblags, who closely follows the progress of the Consortium of Energy.
During the next meeting, the Latvian partners organized an International Conference on Energy, where the city of Murcia, through ALEM, will present examples of energy efficiency and local energy plan, which includes the Local Strategy to Combat Climate Change.
It is noteworthy that German is the only Energy Agency has obtained recently created the unique Stewardship recognition by the Directorate General for Energy European Commission and has been awarded the European Seal of Energy Efficiency.
