The Minister of Tourism and Consumer Affairs, Jose Pablo Ruiz Abellán, today attended the cornerstone laying of the Visitors Center of San Cayetano, who has been promoted by the Tourist Consortium 'Murcia Crossroads. "
The goal of the Visitor Center, which has a budget of 2,278,000 euros and a lead time of 24 months, is to show the pieces that have been recovered from various archaeological excavations, disclose the history of Huerta de Vega and Murcia (with its palaces and walled enclosures) and to host cultural activities for this type of centers.
The building will be constructed around the Plaza de la Ermita de San Cayetano, near which were found archaeological remains of the Roman road that linked Cartagena Fortuna.
This location has great historical interest, because it senses the presence of more Arab and Roman remains of the eleventh century.
It will build a unique architectural environment around the square, rising to allow views of the Castle and the Vega de Murcia, and to protect and cover the remains of the Roman road.
The ground floor, which is drawn as a continuation of the paving of the square was inside the building, is essentially open, constantly continuity with the outside.
The first floor will be installed the following exhibitions: Roman room, living first settlements, Arab and living room from the garden.
