The Animal Welfare Committee, chaired by the Councillor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, held a meeting this morning with representatives of all political groups in the city of Murcia, animal welfare and related and institutions concerned in this matter, giving continue the work initiated since its inception late last year.
The ultimate goal is to place Murcia as "a model for the care of animals in general and dogs in particular," said Coello.
The purpose of it is drafting a new ordinance on the protection and ownership of pets to update the current rules, dating from 1996, taking into account the potential risks to environmental health, peace, health and safety of people and goods.
The Commission has also analyzed the improvement in relation to the protective associations to promote in this matter and adopt a public call for subsidies that can access associations working in this area companies.
Similarly, the meeting has discussed the possibility of increasing, design and develop new awareness campaigns to seek the necessary cooperation of citizens by broadcasting educational programs.

Maite Espinosa, Municipal Socialist Group;
Francisco Javier Triguero Citizens;
Luis Alberto Bermejo, from now Murcia, and Sergio Ramos, Murcia's change.
Also it featured the head of the Service of Health and Zoonosis and representatives of animal protection: The Conijo, Darmur, Canine Society of Murcia and painter José María Párrraga, and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment environment and the College of Veterinarians of Murcia.
