The University of Murcia (UMU) has signed an agreement by which students of the institution help in different volunteer programs that have the Jesus Forsaken Foundation.
The agreement signed will allow students to volunteer in the activities carried out by the Foundation to care for people at risk of exclusion: housing program insertion, workshops, markets, awareness events and training, etc.
The Vice Chancellor of Students, Quality and Equality, Miguel Angel Perez, said during the signing ceremony that the cooperation of the University with Jesus Forsaken also extends to student placements and, soon, the agreement shall be renewed under which UMU workers dedicate a portion of payroll to help the homeless.
In the four years of validity of the latter agreement, the University of Murcia has donated 133,000 euros to the Foundation, giving a monthly average of 2,927 euros.
The voluntary agreement has been signed in the building of Convalescence by the president of the Foundation Trust Jesus Forsaken, José Moreno, and the rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, who has shown their commitment to increase both collaboration and contributions.
The ceremony was also attended by the Secretary General of the University, Santiago Alvarez.
