The Municipal Council of San Gines adopted unanimously at its last plenary a motion of Murcia's change for the removal of materials containing asbestos in the public school of the village sculptor Salzillo.
The initiative also proposed the formation municipalist urge the City of Murcia and the Ministry of Education to launch a plan for disposal of asbestos in schools.
Myron Ginés, a member of Let's change in San Gines and defender of the motion, recalled that most of the buildings constructed in Spain between 1965 and 1984 contain asbestos, a mineral used mainly in construction materials and whose carcinogenic effects have been demonstrated by authorities medical.
In the early 2000s he began to be banned in developed countries, and since 2005 it is in the European Union.
In Spain, the marketing and use of all varieties of this compound were banned in 2001.
In addition, the motion's change raised the commitment of the Municipal Board to support any initiative from school, the AMPA or any other group, that aims the involvement of government in replacing the asbestos roof of the school.
