It has asked the Consistory Murcia to investigate the installation of the new lighting towers, which were acquired by the Strong Business Group in 2014 to install its core and offices, should infringe the Municipal Ordinance Regulating Energy Efficiency and Prevention of Light Pollution Outdoor Lighting, as well as Law 34/2007 of 15 November on air quality and atmospheric protection, and Royal Decree 1890/2008 of 14 November, approving the Regulation on energy efficiency in external lighting installations, which raises a number of measures mainly from the perspective of energy saving, and to limit the night light glow or light pollution and reduce intrusive or annoying light.
It has also asked the City Council that if the rules are violated, it is appropriate to withdraw or seal luminaires that generate light pollution to the environment.
Since HUERMUR are asked to note that light pollution is a pollution to the environment, as there is little social conscience, despite generating numerous and damaging consequences such as wasted energy (and emissions of greenhouse gases resulting from production), damage to ecosystems night, the harmful health effects in humans and animals, difficulties in air traffic, etc.
