The City of Murcia, through the Department of Youth and Development Cooperation, who heads Rebeca Perez, has launched 4 projects European Voluntary Service (EVS) in Finland, Portugal, Poland and Greece.
These projects funded by the European Commission, namely the Erasmus Plus program allows young people to express their personal commitment through unpaid volunteer and full-time for up to 12 months in another country of the European Union or elsewhere.
Through these learning experiences, young people improve or acquire skills for their personal, educational and professional development as well as for their social integration.
The aim of the Voluntary Service is to "develop solidarity and promote tolerance among young people, primarily to reinforce social cohesion in the European Union, and to promote active citizenship and mutual understanding among young people," said Rebeca Perez.
EVS is performed through activities organized in partnership between legally established organizations, which send or host volunteers.
Specifically, sleeps 4 are offered in youth centers in Finland, for stays ranging from 9 to 12 months.
The main activities of the volunteers in these projects, which will coexist with other European volunteers, will "organize leisure activities and free time for users, lectures, seminars and sports activities, explained Rebeca Perez, who said "These centers put a special interest in promoting values ​​such as equality, tolerance, European awareness and healthy lifestyles."
It has also approved 2 places for 12 months to two projects in Portugal, one of them, 'Make the different', to be held in a shelter for children up to 12 years, victims of abuse, neglect or risk of social exclusion.
Volunteer tasks stated the councilman of Youth, will "support the staff of the organization in the various daily activities of the center, accompany children in activities, organizing workshops and leisure activities and free time."
The second project "Let's be volunteers' will take place in a Centre for education of children from foster homes where volunteers will help generate dynamic and user activities.
In addition, one young may travel to Poland for development in a youth activity center by the Eurodesk European Information office, organization of meetings with other volunteers and various cooperation activities, with a duration of 9 months.
Moreover, 3 young volunteer may choose to short to be held in the month d June in Greece.
The project will be developed in an environmental organization and will consist, as stated Perez, "to generate environmental awareness activities in the region, participating in seminars recycling, cleaning and fitness trails, plants and workshops on media-friendly construction the environment, etc ".
These projects of individual mobility in addition to giving a European dimension to the activities that the city of Murcia are proposed citizens of the municipality, aims to achieve the following objectives in the young participants:
Improved skills to obtain employment more easily: skills ability to speak in a foreign language and communicate, intercultural, interpersonal and social skills and teamwork skills.
Learning of working in a multicultural environment and out of your comfort zone, providing new ways of working, adapting to another culture, empathize with others, the development of communication and expression, learning to make decisions and face challenges , confidence in the ability to excel.
