MURCIA NOW claims that the mayor José Ballesta "has shown contempt for the municipalismo" as Murcia "or is present on the board of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM)" recently constituted.
"Their lack of interest is such that it was not even present at the meeting of constitution," said Councilwoman Alicia Morales.
Now spokeswoman Murcia regrets the lack of interest of the PP in the municipal issues, "despite that policies developed in this area are often those that most directly affect the lives of citizens."
Morales said that "the absurdity of this new board of FMRM started with the delay in its constitution: it should have occurred soon after the May elections, but as has happened with neighborhood councils and district of Murcia, its constitution has been delayed far beyond what is reasonable. "
The mayor stressed that "it is incomprehensible that the municipality with the highest population, economic and political weight in the region is not on the board of the FMRM".
In his view, the attitude of Ballesta shows "absolute indifference" by the municipalism and its federation.
Morales considered "very important to promote any action that encourages municipalism" and "not neglect the role of FMRM".
The councilor says that the federation "has been losing weight steadily with the 20-year rule of the House, but from now advocate that Murcia is a useful and effective institution to give voice to the different municipalities and coordinate actions."
"Murcia should lead municipal issues in the region," says the mayor, who wonders if the lack of interest by the FMRM Ballesta is also a sign "from his lack of weight in the PP and regional policy".
