The Mayor, José Ballesta, received this afternoon the appointment as Honorary Chairman of the Coral Discantus, awarded for their support both social and cultural work developed as a child singing school, attended by about 300 children.
The event was held this afternoon at the monastery church Las Anas, where they offered a concert of carols in which they made a tour of great Christmas choral pieces of the most varied styles.
The action is part of the activities commemorating the 800th anniversary of the creation of the Dominica order.
The agreement granting Coral Discantus notes that this distinction is a source of pride "to have a Mayor in our city with the sensitivity, culture and love of music has proven so many times."
Meanwhile, Ballesta, in the words of gratitude pronounced highlighted the role of "ambassadors of Murcia" which plays this choir since its founding in 1995 by its current director, Angel Carrillo.
Throughout these 20 seasons, its 300 singers have performed concerts in China, USA, France, Poland, Argentina, Portugal and Italy as well as in Spain.
The Mayor has also recognized the work being done, not only from a cultural point of view but also social, such as benefit concerts and free instrument classes, music theory and singing.
