Two centenarians match
On May 7, 1915, barely a month and a half after it was created at the University of Murcia, nursing studies were approved in Spain.
They did it at the request of the Servants of Mary, Ministers of the Sick, which for decades had been instructed in books on health hygiene, disease prevention and first aid.
The new title accredited to practice prove to have acquired the necessary knowledge by attending clinical practices, clinics, nursing homes and hospitals.
Taxes amounted to ten pesetas.
They were the first steps of a fundamental profession that brings together 300,000 workers in Spain.
For decades, the University of Murcia offers a nursing program first level and adapted to the times, chaired by that original spirit to meet the health needs of all people, offering careful planning of lectures and activities aimed at the skills and application of nursing care.
